Ok I was emotional just being in the theatre. So this may be very biased - but I loved this production. I loved it visually, I loved the orchestra and I loved the new script. Phillipa Soo’s voice is angelic and her Guinevere was wonderful. Andrew Burnap was great as King Arthur and I felt the honesty of the reluctant king as he has to navigate so much through this story. Matias de la Flor was very good as Lancelot.
The show ran 2:50 today so I think it has been trimmed. The second act seemed to go faster than I remembered and I was moved as always by the ending.
I was mesmerized by Richard Burton when he was on tour with the show in 1981. He will always be the standard. But this production I enjoyed more than any other I had seen before. |
