Apparently, according to this interview, when Richard Harris appeared onstage at various times,in CAMELOT, years after the film version, he did a significant amount of dramaturgy to fine-tune the Alan Jay Lerner script. His views here are undeniably respectful and considered. He unearthed a lot of the old scripts to cobble his together. He mentions phoning Alan Jay Lerner for his blessing. The project and the character clearly meant a great deal to him, and he talks about how different his later interpretation was from his work in the film.
There is, also, some recording floating around somewhere of one of his stage productions. It may have been a HBO project around 1982, with Meg Bussert and Richard Muenz, magic, Merlin, and fantastic sets, which made it to Broadway.
