| "A private industry reading of a new stage musical adaptation of Death Becomes Her will be held in NYC this week, produced by Universal Theatrical Group. Based on the 1992 film, the work features a book by TV writer-producer Marco Pennette and music and lyrics by Julia Mattison and Noel Carey. Tony winner Christopher Gattelli (Newsies) is directing and choreographing." I found another article about a reading in 2012: "Death Becomes Her is a musical with music by Mary Rodgers, lyrics by Marshall Brickman, and a book by Brickman and Rick Elice. The musical is based on the 1992 film of the same name, which was directed by Robert Zemeckis and starred Goldie Hawn, Bruce Willis, and Meryl Streep. In the musical, madcap heiress Madeline Ashton and her long-time rival Helen Sharp vie for the affections of Ernest Menville. When Madeline drinks a potion that is supposed to make her immortal, she finds that it has some unexpected side effects. As the years pass, Madeline and Helen remain young and beautiful, while Ernest ages. The two women continue to fight over Ernest, even as they both descend into madness. Death Becomes Her was originally developed for a workshop at the New York Stage and Film company in 2009. The musical had its world premiere at the Signature Theatre in Arlington, Virginia, in March of 2012. The production was directed by Eric Schaeffer and starred Erin Dilly as Madeline, Donna Murphy as Helen, and Bryce Pinkham as Ernest." |

| Bravo to my former Emerson musical theatre students Noel Carey and Julia Mattison. (Some may remember Julia as the understudy in the Godspell revival that opened the show in place of an injured Morgan James.) Really hoping the best for this project. | |

| There never was a production at Signature Theatre. There may have been a workshop (if so, it's news to me), but there definitely was no full production. |

| Maybe all that magic through the clouds, gray with years, over hill, wet with tears removed from "Camelot" went to Bright Star Musicals? | |
