| I saw and enjoyed Fat Ham at the Public, and I'm wondering how the staging differences work out on Broadway (opening tonight). | |

| Agree with previous poster. More crucially, it feels broader now. The performances are ‘bigger,’ and not (in my mind) a good way. It’s like they’re playing to the back row, hamming it up (if you will) so that we all get it. The audience seemed to eat it up but I found it much less compelling. Otherwise it’s more or less the same staging. Some of the ghost effects are tweaked, and perhaps a tad more impressive here. But I didn’t notice any major differences. |

| I saw the third preview on Broadway, and my main takeaway was that it needed to become broader, especially during the beginning, to fill that space. Once Benja Kay Thomas came on stage the show began to feel like it was scaled to Broadway, and the new version of Juicy’s karaoke truly filled the space in all the Rufus ways. So I’m glad to hear that they kept working on scaling up. That said, I loved it on Broadway, and I thought they did a great job of maintaining the connection to the audience while making it a proscenium event. I’m tempted to go back and catch it again. |

| I saw both stagings. I loved it at the Public and it felt like we were in their backyard having BBQ with the family. I felt it lost some of that intimacy on the proscenium stage. | |
