| It was a Monday evening when other shows are dark so a lot of theater folk in the audience ( Brad Oscar, Angie Schworer, John Kander ( employee discount? ), me, etc ). Also an understudy was on: Julian Ramos. Many were there to cheer him on and nice he got recognition during the bows. The show is a mixed bag... a patchwork quilt with a lot of loose strings. When a song like "A Quiet Thing" doesn't land that says a lot. During previews of "Steel Pier" David Thompson was cutting back-stories of characters and the opposite is needed here. And maybe those cut songs from "Steel Pier" could have worked in this show ( Francine gets put in a failing musical, since the leering producer bit is lame )? |
