I saw the third preview on Broadway, and my main takeaway was that it needed to become broader, especially during the beginning, to fill that space. Once Benja Kay Thomas came on stage the show began to feel like it was scaled to Broadway, and the new version of Juicy’s karaoke truly filled the space in all the Rufus ways. So I’m glad to hear that they kept working on scaling up.
That said, I loved it on Broadway, and I thought they did a great job of maintaining the connection to the audience while making it a proscenium event. I’m tempted to go back and catch it again. |
