I saw both The Golden Age at the Jack Lawrence and, a year earlier, Slab Boys at the same theater when it was called the Playhouse (not to be confused with the Broadway theater farther east on W 48th that was demolished to make room for an expansion of Rockefeller Center). Slab Boys had an amazing cast: Kevin Bacon, Jackie Earle Haley, Val Kilmer, Sean Penn, and Madeleine Potter, among others. Fun fact (which I didn't realize until decades later): one of the understudies was Ron Fassler, who wrote the wonderful memoir about theatergoing, Up in the Cheap Seats.
