| I think the BMI workshop still sticks closely to Engel's teachings. I think we can all agree that lots of songs even in some of the best musicals don't necessarily need to be there. Another example would be "One Hundred Easy Ways." I don't know whether it's a charm song. I suppose it is a bit of both an "This is who I am" song and a "want song," but not in any crucial way. But it's a fun song and it makes the show more fun. Take it out and the show still makes complete sense. |
