| I see what you mean. I think Fagin is a hard role to put across anyway. The songs are clever but haven’t the melody or emotional power of Who Will buy and Where is Love and Nancy’s numbers. And Fagin is neither completely depraved nor completely forgiveable. And is he (the character) really all that funny? Besides, his songs seemed a little low for Esparza, or at least without opportunities to show off his beautiful voice. He really committed, though, and what he came up with was admirable. |
