With covid and how easy it is for people to get sick, and how important it still is to not expose the entire company if you are... it would be stupid not to have a standby for something like this. Rather than cancel the entire performance(s) for such a short run.
I'd be very upset if I went hoping for Raul, but also... assuming he is actually sick, what is the option? Cancel it? And also can Encores afford to lose the money from refunding tickets to people who might not be able to buy another date, just because one of the 2 leads is sick? Raul isn't above the title. If this were a broadway production you wouldn't get a refund either. The difference is they'd offer an exchange, and with Encores there are few, if any, options for dates to exchange for. |
