It's kind of a false question. I live on stolen land, as do you, unless you're a Native American.
I live in a racist country, as do you, no matter who you are. This week a white man was let go by the police after he killed a homeless black man, just a few blocks from where I live. Would he have been let go if he had killed a white man or white woman? If a black man had killed a white man, would he have been let go?
I have personally experienced violence, sexism, homophobia, and anti-Semitism.
And I won't even get started on mass shootings.
Do we want to start announcing all of these before shows? Again, what would be the point?
I believe in doing something, writing letters, marching, giving money, voting, getting out the vote.
Action: That's the sort of acknowledgement of injustice that interests me. Not trendy announcements. |
