That is the one thing I really like about the term BIPOC... that it is an acronym that has a built in coalition between Indigenous and People of Color. The land announcements have definitely taken off here since the global George Floyd protests in 2020.

I tend to not feel good about the announcements because they do tend to slip out of, usually, white people's mouths a bit too easily. It reminds me a bit of being in Germany where German non-Jews often wear their holocaust remembrance as a point of pride. They do it as much for their own fear of the return of fascism as for acknowledging their collective guilt. Perhaps something similar is happening here in the Land Acknowledgements. It serves as another barrier set up against the Western Right and their nostalgia for colonialism, "pioneers" and conquest.

But these slogans can be done so thoughtlessly that they can go beyond cluelessness to doing serious political damage. Remember the peacocking around the slogan "Immigrants are Welcome Here"? Are they really welcome? If they are really welcome we need to have the infrastructure and resources to house them, employ them, educate them. Even as they become weaponized by fascists and sent in busloads to places where they are vulnerable to terrible acts of violence.

So I would say, listen intently to these announcements and the people who make them. If they feel rote, shallow, pro forma then that is a reflection on the depth of the politics of the organization that is making them. If they feel otherwise, perhaps even opening up connections between the work of theater that is being presented that night then take note of that as well.
