| That's because, other than on this site and others like it, people couldn't care less about the Tony Awards. I don't mean that harshly, but it explains the almost complete "lack of effect on grosses" after the nominations were announced. People go to see what they want to see. A strong musical number on the Tony Awards show, and winning multiple awards might nudge some folks towards shows they would otherwise have skipped. It happens every year. This year is no exception. |
