OF THEE I SING also contains some delightful stage directions, a couple of which have stuck in my head after doing the show years ago.
In one of the numbers (I no longer remember which), there is a stage direction that says something to the effect of "12 girls enter stage right." And, a bit further down the page, in the same song, we get "Another 12 girls enter stage left."
Just goes to show how much bigger shows were then and, probably, how much less Broadway performers were paid. :) |
