I love this idea! Despite the show's shortcomings which I truly think are un-fixable, one can revel in the huge and glorious sing that is Florence. And modern stagecraft can help fix what was apparently a disaster in the original, with radio controlled chess pieces going awry. Was that before or while they had crew members inside of them blindly guiding them around?? Given it was post Phantom and some other spectacles it's actually pretty odd they couldn't figure something out then.
I wonder if it will play better as a period period piece now with greater distance from the cold war setting.
The more I think about it...lol...I am surprised she would pick such a risky show. Everyone is miserable the entire show, all songs expressing this dissatisfaction. A bit odd if you think about it. |
