The numbers were all new, unlike the Fosse retreads "Fosse" and "Dancin'" revival.
Gwen Verdon retired from musicals with "Chicago" which only closed less than five years before "Dancin'"
It wasn't a career retrospective because in 1979 Bob Fosse was very much a current working choreographer concentrating on new work.
And Verdon wasn't in the show. Then there is the case of performing rights and licensing of famous, popular shows that Verdon created like "Damn Yankees", "Sweet Charity" and "Chicago".
As for the Dancin' revival closing this weekend - no idea. Maybe Cilento was concentrating on the original Dancin' choreography and less familiar pieces.
With "Chicago" currently on the boards with the original "Hot Honey Rag" choreography intact that couldn't be used in two shows simultaneously.
