I also found the cast listing in the Oliver Playbill to be kind of strange. Only the first ten actors are listed by their roles, with everyone else under "ensemble." But then in the cast bios, the designations such as Bet and Mrs Bedwin are listed next to the actors' names, and those actors with named roles got a later bow at curtain call than the rest of the ensemble. I've never seen a Playbill set up in this way before, where the roles are only listed in the cast bios section.
I think Oliver hasn't gone through puberty yet or he wouldn't be able to sing Where is Love, so I don't think there's author intention of true romance there. |
