| It is a lousy article built on infirm premises, but I put it in the category of things written by the parents or children of a person (or by a person themself). I would not label it disingenuous but blind to the possibility of an alternate qualitative assessment. It is not true that the production was universally and objectively bad; there are a reasonable number of people who liked it more than you (and I) did, and she certainly is entitled to some bias in the same sense that my parents were at my piano recitals where they routinely pronounced my playing magnificent. That said, I do think she would have come across more intelligently had she focused on processes or perhaps biases in the "underlying process" rather than grounding it (or at least implying it was based) in some rule. |
