Ah, but a good many shows have Latin-inspired numbers, either literally ("Mu-Cha-Cha" for instance, or "America") or at least in terms of a basic dance rhythm propelling the song (The bolero-inspired verse sections in "A Trip To The Library," for instance). I'm not sure that's anything unique here. For what it's worth, "Whatever Lola Wants" and "Near To You" are written with Latin rhythms as well, even though the latter song isn't Latin in a character-specific way. Going forward in time, Sondheim often used Latin rhythmic patterns.
