If the Tony Awards weren't televised, it probably wouldn't be an issue at all. It's the fact that they are televised that is causing all the conflict with the current strike. Aside from the fact that you have WGA members who would presumably be writing material for the show, you also have lots of other people involved with a live TELEVISION broadcast.
Broadway shows aren't filmed or televised. |
