| I've heard people refer to Nathan's or Matthew's performance in shows, as well as questions as to whether Sutton or Hugh was in or out of a performance (when their show was running). I don't think it's sexism at all -- it's just a presumed friendliness or thinking that talking that way might make them an insider -- and perhaps some of them are. One never knows who reads/posts on ATC. As for directors, plenty of folks have been known, for example, to refer to Tommy Tune as Tommy when he was actively directing on Broadway and others refer to Susan Stroman as Stro. It might be overly familiar, but it's usually not disrespectful, gross or something to be labeled sexism by someone looking to be offended by something. |
