| I saw the matinee today end it was very disappointing. It was strangely uninvolving. Lilli Cooper and Benjamin Pajak were excellent. Raul Esparza was completely miscast and seems to lacked energy. The other actors were all talented but the way the whole thing was directed it seems like a mishmash. Did they remove part of the book? The last three songs in the first act it's a fine life and I'd Do anything and be back soon are all sung in a row without any real purpose. The second act as noted before is completely rushed and without any real effect. I remember liking the show in the past but is it the show or the production that leaves me cold? |
