Agree with posters below; wonderful to hear the score with a full orchestra but sound issue persisted last night; we moved as we couldn't hear the lyrics.
Alton White was out and understudy was quite good. Back to Before got the largest applause and Elizabeth Stanley's voice filled Symphony Hall similar to Marin Mazzie.
I asked someone from the production why Wheels of a Dream ended the First Act....it was mostly a timing issue to get the first act down to one hour. There was a lot of cutting to get the show down to the usual Pops Concert time of about 2 hours.
Despite the sound issue in Act 1, it was still a great evening in a hall only filled about two thirds, unfortunately. |
