SPOILERS:
I think the death of Nancy, the pursuit of Sikes, the freeing of Oliver, and the path of Bill’s dog all contribute to an intricacy and suspense for the final moments that Encores had to edit. Lots of ‘fight’ choreography. And, in the original, the revolving set probably added a lot to the end of Sikes.
Perhaps because Encores extended itself so much in the first act choreography,,the audience ended up imagining they’re seeing a fully staged production. |
