| An art house movie usually wins that grosses maybe $50m. Everywhere made $77m US and $140m worldwide. Top gun maverick made 10 times that—720m/1.5b. Clearly maverick was a well constructed movie that was a crowd pleaser and many thought it was worth $15 average ticket price to see and yet it lost best picture. |
