| Idea. The League goes into theaters and shoots scenes from plays and musical numbers from nominated shows. Run the show as a special on PBS, hosted by people from PBS. If the Broadway League is serious about saving the season and boosting the profiles of the shows, they can afford to do this. Winners are announced live, no actors need be present, no acceptance speeches, just short interviews the next day online and in the media. Nobody crosses picket lines, no waivers needed except from the Dramatists Guild. Not the national audience it would get from CBS, but an audience nonetheless. It could extend the runs of several shows. | |
