| There are a ton of composers and lyricists credited in addition to Jackson. There are a ton of Jackson trademarks, copyrights, etc., for things other than music. When I said I didn't know the structure of compensation, that was an understatement. But exploited songs have to be negotiated with the individual authors' representatives and this has nothing to do with any standard scheme of compensating theatrical authors. I am guessing that the Jackson Estate and its subsidiaries are milking this production because, let's face it, without Jackson, there can be no MJ. People like Nottage but they are not shelling out to see a play about MJ with none of the music. |
