Chazwaza, you can count me among those surprised that Erivo wasn't cast in the film version of ''The Color Purple'' musical.
Erivo's 2015-16 performance not only led to her Tony Award, but her Grammy and Emmy, too - three-fourths of her EGOT.
If she'd won an Oscar for the movie, Erivo would've made history as the first performer to get an EGOT all for the same role.
(I didn't expect the new ''Color Purple'' movie to star Fantasia Barrino, who last played Celie on Broadway in 2007.)
Oh, well. Maybe Erivo achieve her EGOT with either ''Wicked'' or ''Prima Facie'' instead. |
