AC126748, thank you for letting me know about Reverie. I completely missed that one. "Sketch" is exactly the right word for Abandon. It felt like an early draft, with the concepts there but many of the characters were not very fleshed out and I think the throughline was not as clear as it could be. And I think some of the text would be re-written after feedback. At one point, one of the characters says he thinks he is 27, but he's not sure how old he is. That seemed really off for me (besides that the character seemed to be played as much younger than 27). To not know how old you are (or be able to figure it out) is a major big deal. No matter how chaotic your life is, you know your age or can calculate it from your birthyear unless you have some major trauma, whether physical (like a brain injury) or really deep psychological issues of a certain type. And I didn't think that character was portrayed as showing a level and type of trauma that would justify that he would somewhat casually say that he didn't know how old he was. I think that line would be taken out on a closer look, or the justification for that line would be clearer. That's just one example but there are several aspects that seemed sketch-like.

Melanye Finister deserves all the praise she can get for that performance. Is she at a disadvantage for the Barrymores because it's a small theater and a short run? I don't know how the selection is done.
