MELINDA HUGHES IS HITCHED!
A NEW COMEDIC SOLO SHOW
WRITTEN AND PERFORMED BY
MELINDA HUGHES

TO PLAY ON WEDNESDAY, JUNE 14 AT 7:00PM
AT DON'T TELL MAMA

(New York, NY) - British musical satirist and comedian Melinda Hughes will present a one night only, of her new solo show Hitched! on Wednesday, June 14th at 7:00pm at Don't Tell Mama, 343 West 46th St. www.melindahughes.com

At fifty, Melinda Hughes has finally tied the knot for the first time, and despite being in a bubble of love, she's still got a wicked satirical take on life, politics and romance. Melinda's on-point satire, coupled with her cut glass British accent, makes this an unmissable show. Her broad repertoire of musical styles encompasses a myriad of topics, ranging from internet trolling and Cancel Culture to failed romances with Argentinian truckers and a disdain for British stately homes. The show will be performed alongside fellow Brit, pianist and composer David Shenton and double bass player Mark Wade.

"I'm so excited to return to New York (as a newlywed!) to perform my new show at Don't Tell Mama. I have brand new songs, hilarious stories and amusing insights into getting married in London on the weekend of the King's Coronation! I hope to be bringing a little bit of Britain to the Big Apple," says Hughes.

Melinda Hughes has performed internationally as an opera singer and soloist with the Andre Rieu Strauss Orchestra. As a satirical cabaret singer and comedian, she has enjoyed sell-out performances at Crazy Coqs, The Pheasantry, Queen Elizabeth Hall and Cadogan Hall in London, The Al Bustan Festival Beirut, Hay Festival & Bath Comedy Festival in the UK, Lerici Festival Italy, Holders Festival Barbados as well as the Metropolitan Room New York. She's also had many successful seasons at The Edinburgh Fringe. She was runner up in the 2019 Funny Women Awards with her show Off The Scale.

Melinda is also a Weimar specialist with two albums to her name, Smoke & Noise and Weimar & Back. This led her to work with the late Barry Humphries on BBC Radio 4 programme about Weimar Cabaret. Her passion for this era led her to write and produce MARGO: Half Woman, Half Beast as a collaboration with JW3 in London, culminating in a run at The Assembly Rooms in the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe, garnering many five-star reviews.

Tickets are $20 and venue charges a $20 cover charge (which includes two drinks). Reservations can be made at www.donttellmamanyc.com
