| Predicting Tony nominations in July as a game on this board doesn't seem nearly as silly as this Variety article, because the pool of potential nominees is much smaller and many of the potential nominees have already been seen off-Broadway, in London, or in an out-of-town tryout. A year ago, I think people would have predicted that Kimberly Akimbo and Some Like It Hot would be nominated for Best Musical, and Victoria Clark and Jodie Comer would be strong candidates for Lead Actress. Picking actual winners in July, though, is quite a bit sillier, since so much of that is about what the buzz is in the spring as well as who the other nominees are. Picking nominees and especially winners for Oscars for a year from now when a lot of the selected movies aren't finished, though, is kind of idiotic. All five of the Original Song nominees have a title of "To be announced." Fine as a parlor game, but IMO, this is not an article that should have made it into a professional publication. |

| They do it every year. To me, it’s very informative. I hadn’t heard of a lot of these movies yet. Also- word gets out about acting performances before the films are completed. I remember Ed Norton getting cast in 3 films after word got out about his performance in Primal Fear. Are these predictions going to be 100% correct? Of course not. But it’s pointing us towards the buzz. | |

| Really? These aren’t predictions – it’s a list of press releases. Most of these movies haven’t been seen yet – many are not even completed. How can anyone predict winners let alone nominees? They shower Maestro with nominations and wins all around, but ignore Bradley Cooper in the leading male category. Yet they include Jonathan Major getting a nomination - with all the drama surrounding him that movie will be lucky to be released at all. You expect this kind of gossip writing from the NY Post , not Variety. |

| It's not gossip writing. It's predictions based on what we know. In Vegas, you can bet on who will win the championship long before the season even starts. You go with the information you have. They do this every year. I like it. It kind of points me in the direction of what I might want to see. Will they all come true? Of course not. But let's see. Some of them may. | |

| That’s a very informative article. It got key nominations in the acting races correct too. Word had gotten out that B Fraser and MY gave award worthy performances. | |
