Deadline.com is reporting that Disney will be removing dozens of shows and specials from Disney+ and Hulu on May 26. Among them: ''Encore!,'' the 2019-20 reality show that reunited casts of high school musicals and had them reprise their roles. This time, Broadway pros helped them remount their show. I loved the inspiring episode about ''Oklahoma!'' done in Snellville, Ga. Woody, who had played Will and danced as a teen, later got into a hit-and-run accident. So now he played Will from a wheelchair. Also going bye-bye: Don Hahn's ''Howard,'' a 2018 Annie Award-winning documentary about Oscar-winning lyricist Howard Ashman. The timing of ''Howard's'' removal is disappointing. The live-action version of Ashman & Menken's ''Little Mermaid'' opens May 26! |
