| Im excited. I really enjoyed Fantasia as Celie in the original production. A really memorable performance that carried the show. Then add in other Broadway talent like the great Colman Domingo and Danielle Brooks, this looks even better. The music numbers look like they are shot much in the current Hollywood style of movie musicals (ie dolly shot of large dancing crowds), which isn’t my favorite approach but the rest of it looks like it could improve on the 1985 film (although that had quite the starry cast in retrospect). I wish they had also done a pro shot of the revival with Erivo and Headley since I loved both of them. But I’m eager to see this one. |
