| I saw a shorter version on TV, but can't find it on iSpot or anywhere else, but this longer cut is on the Chicago website. I wonder how the actual cast feels about it. I don't know how to say this tactfully... their TV spot counterparts are obviously talented dancers, they're just... a little more camera-ready? Sex sells, right? I do think it's very well directed/edited and performed. Almost makes me want to see the old gal again. ("Old gal" refers to the show itself, to be clear!) |

| I shouldn't be shocked, but I am, that this thing is actually associated with the Broadway show (as opposed to, say, a well-meaning college production.) Disclaimer: I've always hated the revival album, from which this track is clipped – and I mean clipped (hear the awkward, amateur edit on the last chord, which of course continues on the album.) The sonics and musicianship are vastly the inferior to the still-shimmering, thrilling 1975 original recording. The choreography is insipid (the Charleston? In CHICAGO? Really? Fortunately I don't believe in an afterlife, or I'd picture Fosse and Verdon and Reinking all spinning in their graves in perfect unison, three moving as one) – as is the performing, with all that ooh-la-la-ing and tongue-writhing and look-how-hot-I-think-I-am rubbish. There's not a trace of the full-body commitment and expertise (to say nothing of an ounce of sensuality) that makes even the filtered-down revival exciting. Last time I saw the show, maybe a few months ago, I was surprised what reasonably good shape it was in (I saw it just as Charlotte d'Amboise was about to leave.) The ensemble was overacting and shticking by a factor or 5 or 10, but their dancing was great to watch, within the limitations of the choreographic downgrade. |

| Okay, this is funny, but I'm in NY for work this week and at my friend's apartment and the spot just came on while we had the TV on in the background. She told me she definitely recognized at least one cast member from the current NY cast. So, perhaps I'm mistaken? Maybe it's a mix of the current cast and specially hired dancers? | |

| I don't know if it features any of the cast, but boy, it's so boring! I finally stopped watching after they got out a chair and someone just put her leg on it. And the Charleston?? Just, what is the appeal of this ad? I guess it reminds people, sort of, that Chicago is still running. But no 60 seconds of the show are as boring as this. | |
