| I like Vanessa Williams very much, without a doubt. But I'm sorry -- there's no way she has the vocal chops for this role (I'm not sure she did even in her best voice, but certainly not now), and I'm not sure she has the acting chops for it either. She's a very talents and winning performer, but I don't think this kind of range and power has been one of her proven talents over the decades we've seen her. |

| Williams? No, I don't agree at all. Not enough of an actress, and I think too pretty of a sound. Mitchell - seems like he'd be wasted in the role somehow. Back to Mame maybe? :-) |

| Maybe this will be controversial (you never know on here), but I would be interested in seeing an Idina Menzel-led SB. She has a very expressive face and her vocals can have an insistent urgency that would suit Norma. She’s really only interested in developing original musicals, but a concert version would get my money. |

| Yes, Menzel would certainly be very interesting--and maybe even wonderful--as Norma. I'm no great fan of hers but she definitely would be much more suited to the role than Williams. | |
