| One of my first professional gigs in Boston many years ago was MD-ing a production of Swados' Esther. An eccentric piece to say the least (and she, a rather enigmatic soul, and from what I can tell, as shy as they come), but it also had moments of very wonderful melody and music. I came out of that experience feeling like she was ultimately a very lazy writer, who could really turn out great stuff when she felt like it. Some people really believe in her writing. And that's fine. I'll stick with the word eccentric. ;-) |
