I don't know if it was COVID or folks taking off for the holiday weekend, but I had a similar experience last night at Titanique. Five of the eight principals were out. (Mercifully, Marla Mindelle, who is leaving the show after this week, was in.) Typically the show has three backup singers (who also serve as understudies), but there was just one at that performance.
