When I saw A BEAUTIFUL NOISE, there were indeed singalong times. But you are not in any way forced to sing along; it’s just during some of the “concert” moments. I must again assert that it is a fun show. Mark Jacoby does a lot of the emotional heavy-lifting as the older version of the protagonist. And I went on s Wednesday night when not Will Swenson (whom we all know is such a star from his stint in HAIR) but his alternate was on, and yet the show was just a very unpretentious, fun delight. It’s not THE GREAT WHITE HOPE, it’s not COMPANY; it’s a well-ordered bio-musical with very recognizable tuneful tunes and a strong supporting cast.

I didn't see Woods so i don't know about Brian d'arcy james, but i feel Will Swenson was far more charismatic than Colton Ryan in NYNY and i really don't care for Christian Borle much in Hot. Josh Groban is an ok sweeney. I think Ben Platt and J. harrison Ghee deserve the nominations.

Will Swenson definitely should have been nominated, he does an excellent job of being vulnerable yet charismatic, and he sings the heck out of those songs!
