| When I saw A BEAUTIFUL NOISE, there were indeed singalong times. But you are not in any way forced to sing along; it’s just during some of the “concert” moments. I must again assert that it is a fun show. Mark Jacoby does a lot of the emotional heavy-lifting as the older version of the protagonist. And I went on s Wednesday night when not Will Swenson (whom we all know is such a star from his stint in HAIR) but his alternate was on, and yet the show was just a very unpretentious, fun delight. It’s not THE GREAT WHITE HOPE, it’s not COMPANY; it’s a well-ordered bio-musical with very recognizable tuneful tunes and a strong supporting cast. |
