| Saw this show on 11/20/2021 off-Broadway and found it to be powerful and very moving. I thought that Tesori's score worked beautifully. Just received the OBC recording CD. The songs are very book specific, but after listening to the CD, I have a much greater appreciation of Tesori and Lindsay-Abaire's achievement. Beautifully sung, especially by Victoria Clark, Justin Cooley, Alli Mauzey, and Bonnie Milligan. "Make a Wish", "Father Time", "How to Wash a Check", "Before I Go", and "Great Adventure" are particularly memorable. | |

| I saw the show for the second time (after having seen the Atlantic production), and I was surprised by how the score had grown on me from hearing it once to hearing it a second time. I find the songs fit the show perfectly, with all the nuances in the script. And I'm seeing parallels to Fun Home, which I hadn't noticed before. And all of the songs are impeccably performed, as you said. It really is quite an achievement. | |
