I actually like the title. I agree it's not obvious that it's a Britney Spears musical, but other jukebox musicals like Beautiful aren't that obvious, either. And I assume "Once Upon a One More Time" deliberately follows the inflection pattern of "Hit Me Baby One More Time." I imagine that there's a commercial coming in which a Britney sound-alike sings, "Once Upon a One More Time" to the backing arrangement and melody of ". . . One More Time" as the logo pops up.
The title also conveys that there's a fairy-tale aspect to it. I think Once Upon a One More Time's biggest problem is timing. & Juliet includes 5 of Britney's biggest songs, including "...One More Time," and some of the design of the two shows seems to have some similarities. & Juliet is more established in the Broadway marketplace right now, and Once Upon a One More Time may have an uphill climb. |
