Some people will never be happy (and also, WTF?)

I'm sorry, but seriously. What the actual F?

Aside from you being wrong about what happened this year (as a poster below points out), it seems like it doesn't really matter what happened, because you will never be happy. This year two non-binary actors won. But they weren't in the same category, so that's not good enough. Two white men won. Gasp! How dare we honor white men? Didn't we get the memo that all white men are evil and should be banished to the land of no awards? If next year two women win in the same category, you'll complain because one of them is white. If two women of color win, you'll complain because it should have gone to a non-binary performer. If no non-binary performers are nominated, that will be the issue.

Not to mention - if two men win in the same category, that's "likely...the overall upshot of doing away with gendered awards" and also, more importantly, a big problem. If two women win, that's a...victory? It seems that in your world, "spreading the wealth" basically just means giving all the awards to women. Or even better, women of color. Or even better, queer disabled women of color.

The Outer Critics Circle awards this year do show a bit of what you are talking about - they split the categories by Broadway/Off Bway, but only had one winner in each category, and so men won in more than half of the acting categories (of the nine performance categories, men won 5, including all 4 play categories. Women won 2, and non-binary performers won 2). But that actually wasn't what happened with the Drama Desk awards at all, so stop trying to make it seem like it was.
