For once I agree with you. Fortunately, I recorded it on my DVR and was able to see the show and fast forward through the commercials. I'm not sorry I watched it. I enjoyed seeing Carol Burnett and Julie Andrews together talking about their remarkable friendship dating back to the days of The Garry Moore Show, when both were such kids.
Nevertheless, much of the show wasn't very good. A lot of the entertainment was substandard. Billy Porter, in particular, looked out of shape, and his voice sounded terrible.
The classic clips from The Carol Burnett Show were fun to re-visit, but because they were not shown in their entirety, just highlights, at times there was insufficient context and they didn't exactly work. The 50th anniversary show was better organized, more cohesive, and far more entertaining. |
