Listen, I don't disagree that it's unlikely for Broadway, or that's probably a tough sell, or that it's a grim subject (though also a very engaging and entertaining as well as provocative and emotional play)... BUT I think the way a play like this sell is the way most plays with dark and heavy subject matter do... by reviews and word of mouth telling audiences clearly that this is an incredible piece of writing with incredible acting and is a must-see play. People don't always or only buy tickets to plays because they are or seem to be fun or about something easily digestible. It can certainly help, but doesn't even always.
I wish it would go to Broadway. I thought it was exceptional. |
