| I've been telling everyone to watch this 1934 Broadway-backstage-gangster-screwball comedy. It is very funny and still sharp in its satire of theatrical vanity. Don't expect depth of character, everyone is playing a stereotype but the casting is brilliant and the writing can be whip-smart, particularly the come-backs and wisecracks, a lost art. |
