Variety did not get it exactly right and therein lies the confusion. The process is that the special situations determination in the CBA is made by a committee (union, league, and neutrals), not by 802. Either party can THEN go to arbitration. To my knowledge there has been no determination so arbitration is not (yet) the next step.
My assumption is that, if there is not a resolution before the first performance, the union will picket and I assume at least some of the unions will not cross the line. And if that's the case, no it is not possible for the show to run. My guess (and my hope) is that there will be a reasonable middle ground agreed upon but we shall see. |
