I was lucky enough to see her 2 or 3 times at the old Ballroom restaurant and cabaret on W. 28th. She didn’t like to stay up late so the shows were at 6 ( except New Years Eve where she was able to manage 9). What a singular, delicate presence. Direct and intimate. Everyone had to sit up in their seats and lean forward. You held your breath as she played and sang with such simple clarity and grace.
