I did enjoy Cariani's accent, which seemed thicker than every other Tateh I've heard.
In general, the performances were wonderful.
BUT - I agree that the storytelling was very confusing. Narration (which of course is already built into the show as is - hmm) would have helped immensely. Also, the act break (after "Wheels Of A Dream") was just wrong. Just terribly wrong. The act really truly needs to end with Sarah's death and the cathartic "When We Reach That Day." That number, instead, coming a few minutes into Act II, just didn't land the same way. And yeah, Act II made no sense.
But as a concert on its own terms, musically speaking, it was fun. |
