| Some really overzealous folks like to make themselves part of the show in more of a participatory way, especially when you hear those "woo-woo"s at the start and and other things which call attention to themselves. Years ago, I remember clearly that friends of one of the performers at some off-Broadway show were doing this, being particularly obnoxious every time that actress said something funny or sang. I guess that was their excuse to show support, which still registered as "de trop" to me. An audience's genuine positive response is great -- but audience members trying to switch the focus to themselves is sometimes just out of hand. |
