I think you're misquoting. The post was (with my parenthesis instead of the original commas): "No one will come to this show (despite it’s title) expecting to see PAL JOEY."
Now, unfortunately, I think that's also not true. Many people will probably come having no idea this isn't (even essentially) the show as written. As I'm sure there were indeed people that didn't understand that the recent Camelot had been overhauled a great deal. A play is a play is a play, right? But at least more of us would come to this production knowing that the basic resemblance to the original is the title and a handful of Rodgers and Hart songs (not knowing yet which ones will be kept, replaced, cut, etc). |
